William Thomas Wood (1877-1958) - Floral Impressions


 
Recognized primarily as a British landscape and flower painter, William Thomas Wood's paintings display his study of both the Classical and Impressionist artist's techniques. Wood was born in Ipswich in 1877 and by the age of 23, he was living in Putney and exhibited his first work at the Royal Academy entitled Summer Heat. Wood lived most of his life in London, and exhibited frequently. His work was extremely popular during his lifetime and he had a number of one-man shows at the Leicester Galleries as well as receiving nine official public purchases. He was elected an Associate to the Royal Watercolor Society (R.W.S.) in 1913, and became a full member in 1918. He died on June 2nd 1958.
